Melissa Butler is a writer and educator. She is a consultant and founder of reimagining project, LLC. She also directs the Children’s Innovation Project. She taught for 23 years in urban public schools, most recently in Pittsburgh Public Schools as a kindergarten teacher.  Currently, she collaborates with others on various learning projects and research in support of learning for students, educators and system.s Her writing and consulting include a focus on: slow noticing; perspective-taking based in not-knowing; intrinsically motivated curiosity; interdisciplinary learning; play as method; inquiry grown from student exploration + educator noticing/nudging; teacher learning grown from trust and autonomy; building of teacher-led leadership; descriptive conversation protocols; system change through noticing to leverage what’s already there.
