Young Writers Institutes, 2019


Students, grades 7-12: Develop your passion and strength in writing during one intensive week on the University of Pittsburgh campus! Western Pennsylvania Writing Project teacher-consultants, college instructors, and guest practicing writers will work with young people, Monday-Friday, using the Pitt campus as our classroom.  Student-teacher ratio is approximately 10:1.

July 15-19, 9:30 am-3:30 pm.

Grades 7-12 Location: Cathedral of Learning (University of Pittsburgh Campus)

Cost of program: $325 (Scholarships Available); $300 for Pitt employees

Young Writers Institute 2019 Registration

NOTE: A Young Writers program for Grades 4-6, Art + Creative Writing, will be held at the Carnegie Museum of Art from 9:00 am-3:00 pm during the week of July 15-19, as well. Here is the program description: ” Develop your passion and strength in creative writing while using art to inspire your imagination.  This one-week camp, co-taught by Western Pennsylvania Writing Project teacher-consultants and Carnegie Museum of Art education staff, provides an opportunity to explore and experience art as a writer.

July 15-19, 9:00 am-3:00 pm

Grades 4-6 Location:  Carnegie Museum of Art, 4400 Forbes Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15213

Cost of program: $325; $290 for CMOA Members

This program will be administered through the Carnegie Museum of Art, and no Pitt discount will be available.

Pine-Richland Young Writers Institutes will be held for grades 4-8 during the week of June 17-21, 9:00 am-3:00 pm.

Writers of Westmoreland will offer Young Writers 2019, grades 4-12, July 15-19, 9:00 am-3:30 pm at West Hempfield Elementary School, 469 Wendel Road, Irwin, PA 15642.  The cost is $335.
